Rinyirru (Lakefield) Fishing Charters 2026
Rinyirru (Lakefield) Fishing Experience – 2026 Limited Dates

RINYIRRU FISHING EXPERIENCE
The Rinyirru Experience is a remote, guided fishing trip into Rinyirru (Lakefield) National Park on Cape York. Run on limited dates each year, these trips are planned around seasonal access and fishing conditions to give you the best opportunity to fish this unique system.
Limited to one or two anglers per trip and a small number of carefully selected dates, this is a highly personalised fishing experience guided by Mark.

GETTING TO RINYIRRU
Rinyirru (Lakefield) National Park is one of Cape York’s most remote and lightly fished systems. Its network of rivers, lagoons and floodplains creates ideal conditions for barramundi and other tropical species.
The remoteness and limited access are what make this fishery special and why it continues to produce.
RINYIRRU FISHING ENVIRONMENT
Drive from Cairns through the coastal road and Battlecamp to Rinyirru, on Cape York.
Access is seasonal, with the park opening after the wet. The prime barramundi fishing window typically runs from April through October.

what's included
Accommodation: Swags under the stars.
Meals: All meals, snacks and drinks (alcohol can be arranged).
Fishing: All gear provided, including lures and flies for the best catches.
Transfers: Cairns pickup and return included for scheduled dates.
Fishing isn’t just about the catch - it’s about the experience. Picture camping under the stars, waking up with the sun, smelling the campfire and the billy brewing, then spending your day casting your lures in secret spots.
I believe the best way to explore and fish this area is on foot. While the boat can be made available for those with limited mobility, walking gives you access to the hidden honey holes. Yes, there are salties and snakes, which keep you on your toes, but walking in the true wild is what this experience is all about.

From your camp, we will explore the surrounding park, fishing some simply epic country. This will involve casting lures or flies from the bank, fishing primarily at snags where Barramundi love to hide.
This is fishing in the wild, and this exclusive adventure offers access to the most untouched, wild areas of Rinyirru NP, with no more than two anglers per trip. Whether you're a seasoned fisherman or a beginner, this is your chance to connect deeply with nature, fish, and enjoy the thrill of reeling in that big Barramundi.
THE fishing
If ever there was a place for me to fish for the rest of my life, it would be here. For me, this place epitomises everything there is about fishing.
